Westminster Academy’s extracurricular offerings to students are selected based on their capacity to enhance our goals for our graduates and build our community. Rather than continually adding more activities and programs, Westminster Academy has intentionally limited options to those that strengthen the skills emphasized in the academic program. These are opportunities where our students are required to use sound reasoning skills, to think on their feet, to organize their thoughts and to communicate winsomely and persuasively to augment our goals for their work in class. Activities providing leadership opportunities outside of class, working with adults and students of various ages, all strengthen our students' abilities to work with others toward worthy ends. In leadership, we consistently call students to look beyond themselves toward building a school that will be respected for the quality of its relationships and care while acknowledging the individuals who have contributed to the quality of our community; leading well is the goal.
Westminster Academy’s House System provides one of the most significant opportunities for the goals listed above through yearlong competitions and events.
Organizations in which Westminster Academy's students actively participate are: Yearbook, Chess Club, Select Choir, Youth Legislature for Middle and Upper Schools, Mock Trial, Knowledge Bowl and WordSmith.
