CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SR HIGH CHOIR!
The Senior High Choir from Westminster Academy attended Choice Music Festivals in Dallas, TX, April 4, 2009. The choir consisted of 37 students ranging from 9th-12th grade. There were 15 choirs from various schools from across the nation who participated in the competition. Out of the three choirs in WA's division, WA won
1st place and received Superior ratings from all of the adjudicators. In addition to competing, the choir was asked to perform spontaneously for people in restaurants, at South Fork Ranch and at their hotel. The students enjoyed sight-seeing at the Book Depository and at the Nasher Sculpture Center. The culmination of the trip was at Six Flags over Texas, where they attended the Awards Ceremony after spending a fun filled day at the park.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BASKETBALL TEAMS! What a season! The 5/6th Grade MACS Girls and Boys, the JV Girls and Boys, and the Varsity Girls and Boys are all league Champions after winning all six of the MACS League Championship games! The 5/6 PAA Girls team won the first game in the Bishop's Tournament, but lost in the second game. Congratulations for a great season.

OLYMPIC GAMES IN THE NEWS:
Photos by Lance Murphey Mon., 27 Oct. 08 - Westminster Academy juniors join with third graders in a tug-of-war during the school's annual Olympic games on Monday. The event is a highlight for the third graders, who study ancient Greece and Rome throughout the school year. A Greek fest was held Monday, which featured a toga and god/goddess costume contest, Olympic games and a chariot race.

Westminster Academy graduate, Alex Happ, class of 2008, recently was named to the inaugural class of Haslam Scholars at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Conceived as the university's premier specialized honors program, the Haslam Scholars Program admits a maximum of 15 first-year Chancellor’s Honors students annually and supports them with the university’s most prestigious and generous named scholarships.

APRIL 2008

Choir News: The Westminster Academy High School Choir went to the West Tennessee Choral
Music Festival in Jackson, TN on April 3rd. They performed 3 classical choral pieces for 3 judges
and then went to be adjudicated for their sight-singing ability. They earned a Superior rating in
both events. There were approximately 60 choirs who entered this festival, including a few private
schools and Memphis City and Shelby County Schools. This rating qualifies them to enter the TN
American Choral Director's Festival next year.

Westminster Hosts the World Renowned Ceruti String Quartet
The Helen Morris Richardson Performing Arts Series presented the Ceruti Quartet with Soh-Hyun Park Altino & Timothy Shiu on the violin, Lenny Schranze on the viola, and Leonardo Altino on the cello. This was the second in a series of concerts underwritten through a gift from the Rollie Richardson Charitable Gift Fund which will bring to Westminster exceptional musical performances reflecting our vision to train students to love that which is worth loving.

Our twelve graduates have been offered over $200,000 in scholarships. Among the colleges and universities they will be attending: Elon University, Furman University, Mississippi State, Rhodes College, Purdue University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Union University. Congratulations to Savannah Dixon... who won a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art Competition at the Brooks Museum out of over 3000 entrants. Her award winning entry (and those of the other winners) can be seen on display at the Brooks.
