Summer Camp for Rising 2nd-5th Graders

Everything Is Awesome! Campers will learn to create their own awesome stop-motion animated movies with titles, credits, and sound effects. Campers may bring their own Lego pieces or other action figures to enhance their movies; Legos, tablets, and any other required supplies are provided by the camp. The movies will be sent out to each camper for in-home viewing following the camp.

The psalmist declared, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). All creation was created “good,” according to Genesis 1, but the first “very good” creation was mankind, who was made in the very image of God. Campers will explore these texts and bring life to them through a series of self-portraits. A range of artistic techniques will be used, including papier-mâché, collage, drawing, and painting.

Come and celebrate your un-birthday with the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and the rest of the insane and inane crew. This classic musical follows Alice as she falls down the rabbit hole and encounters all types of strange and fantastical creatures. Beginners are welcome as we learn the basics of stage movement, choreography, and group singing. Bring a lunch each day.

Our two-week musical intensive will culminate in a show for family and friends. Join us on July 24 at 2:00 p.m.

A crime wave has hit Westminster Academy and it is up to the sleuths of CSI: Westminster to uncover whodunit! Each day of CSI Camp, students are faced with a challenge that must be solved using a variety of scientific inquiries, like fingerprinting, ink-identification, and so much more. Logic skills will also be front and center as students reason through the evidence to solve these mysteries. Our scriptural devotions will include a meditation on Psalm 139 and the God from whom no things are hidden, not even the secrets of our hearts.

5th graders will join 6th-8th graders for this camp.

Campers will strengthen the fundamentals of volleyball (bumping, setting, spiking, and serving) and put it into practice with scrimmages. Emphasis will be put on playing as a team and group communication.  All Westminster Academy coaches are professing believers and are in training to be transformational coaches: who use their “coach-power” to nurture and transform players, who are “dedicated to self-understanding and empathy, viewing sports as a virtuous and virtue-giving discipline” (InSideOut Coaching). Daily devotions will focus on practicing and exercising faith, drawing from the many scriptures that make analogy to athletics.

Don’t have time to travel the world this summer? Join us as we explore printmaking, a foundational art technique used in many cultures. We’ll see how fishermen in Japan used gyotaku as part of their businesses. In sub-Saharan Africa, printmaking is used to create mosaic textiles. Dutch artists like Albrecht Durer and Rembrandt used etching as a tool of mass communication, especially to spread the gospel. Campers will explore various print techniques to create their own works of art to bring home. Devotions for the week will center on the printed images of the gospel from classic artists.

Campers will hone their soccer skills in an encouraging environment. Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!! Battebots camps will allow students the opportunity to design, build, program, and control their own battlebot and compete in head-to-head competitions. Students will work with multiple types of bots for their competitions and challenges each day of camp. Engineers will pound, smash, flip, rip, and destroy their opponents’ bot. Bring your game face … winner takes all!

Come join us as we re-create Anakin’s workshop! Campers will tinker away and use robotic LEGOS to build fantastic Star Wars creations. Soar through the galaxy with us as we build super spaceships and robots based on the Star Wars movies. Students will grow their knowledge of space, robotics, and coding.

5th grade and up boys: 9:00-12:00

5th grade and up girls: 1:00-4:00

Campers will focus on the fundamentals of basketball skills (dribbling, passing, and shooting) and put those skills into practice by learning a variety of plays. Scrimmages during the week will give opportunity for the teams to work together.
