Summer Camp for Rising 2nd-8th Graders

Why do some cheeses melt better than others and why does popcorn pop?” These are some of the questions that will be answered in this science meets baking camp! Mrs. Garrett will host campers in a week full of crazy cooking experiments that bring to life our favorite books with yummy bakes. We’ll measure, bake, sprinkle, stir, and then mix in some good ol’ classic books to make tasty treats to eat and enjoy- it’s yummy fun that your kiddo won’t want to miss! Each camper will get an apron to take home, recipes from our bakes, and lots of tasty treats to eat!

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!!! Greetings Bot Builders!! Battlebots camp will allow students the opportunity to design, build, program and control their own battlebot and compete in head-to -head competitions. Students will work with multiple types of bots for their competitions and challenges each day of camp. Engineers will pound, smash, flip, rip, and destroy their opponents bot. Bring your game face....winner takes all!!

Welcome to Centerbury and to Homer Price’s all-American town! Homer delights in solving zany problems with his ingenuity and down-home common sense.  Meet the wacky characters of Centerbury while staying in stitches with hilarious stories including Hide-a-Ride, the You-Know-What’s, and Grandpa Hercules and the Gravitty Bitties. There is always something outlandish to look forward to with Homer Price! Meet Mrs. Garrett for a week of adventures with marbles and Mousetraps, spinning tops, jacks, and jump ropes, and the all-time favorite of eating donuts in Uncle Ulysses’ lunchroom! It's all-around, all-American fun just right for kicking off the summer! Each camper will receive a copy of Centerbury Tales book to keep, all supplies needed for daily crafts and activities, and out-of- this-world FUN!

Students will make their very own Lego movie! They will learn about film production and what goes into making a movie. They will storyboard, build sets, produce, write and direct their very own movie. Students are encouraged to bring their own Legos if they would like. Our bucket of Legos will be used and shared with the entire class. At the end of the week each student will premiere their critically acclaimed film and earn their own Academy Award.

Grab your needle and thread because we are “SEW” happy for your budding seamstress to join us each day as we explore the basics of sewing. Your child will design and create a variety of hands-on projects throughout the week of camp. We provide all fabrics, sewing machines, and supplies, you just bring the creativity. All of our projects enforce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) which provides an invisible learning experience while having “SEW” much fun. Students will be taken through a trip of the history of several iconic inventions. They will learn the thought process of each inventor and each day engineer their very own version of the invention. They will build towers and bridges out of candy, reinvent the recipe for s’mores, and much more! By the end of the week they will have mastered the skill of being a great inventor and entrepreneur.

Fans of the Harry Potter books will love this week as we hop on the train to Hogwarts and find out which house we are in. We will have themed games, snacks and crafts each day, concluding with a Yule ball the final day. 
Hogwarts attire optional.


You do not have to have read all the books to enjoy this camp. We will be careful not to spoil the plot for students still enjoying the books!

A crime wave has hit Westminster Academy and it is up to Mrs. Davis and the student sleuths of CSI: Westminster to uncover whodunit! Each day at CSI Camp, students are faced with a challenge that must be solved using a variety of scientific inquiries, like fingerprinting, ink-identification, and so much more. Logic skills will also be front and center as students reason through the evidence to solve these mysteries. Our scriptural devotions will include a meditation on Psalm 139 and the God from whom no things are hidden, not even the secrets of our hearts.

Grab your paint brush and get ready for your inner artist to bloom this summer! Young artists will explore many different mediums in this hands-on art camp. Students will create and work with different types of paints, oil pastels, mosaics, and weaving materials. Creative Education puts emphasis on developing creativity and imagination with a special focus on skill. Campers will explore pointillism, silhouettes, self-portraits, canvas painting, and many other unconventional art projects. Each budding artist will present their original artwork to family and friends at the gallery showing on the last day of camp. Sign up today and let your inner Picasso shine through!

Students will learn the art of stop motion animation as seen in movies such as the Lego Movie, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and Coraline. They will learn about movie production and will produce their movie using stop motion animation. They may use Legos we provide to make their movie; they may also bring in their own toys and figures to make their movie. By the end of the week students will premiere their movie and earn their very own Academy Award.

Are you a beginner looking to try a new sport?  Are you interested in “upping your game” in an existing sport? WA summer athletic camps are the perfect answer to all of the above! Sport Camps are divided by age, gender, and/or skill level and will focus on the fundamentals of each sport. Coaches are all Westminster-affiliated, creating a seamless transition from summer camps into school-year athletics programs. Daily devotions will draw from the many scriptures that utilize the analogy of the athlete and how character is built through trials.

Team Sports - will incorporate both individual “skills and drills” practice and team scrimmage play.

Individual Sports - will focus on the basic skills for beginners and the further development of those skills for more advanced players. These are considered “lifetime sports.”

Get a jump on your summer reading with Mrs.Davis as we read the classic novel, The Wind in the Willows, by Scottish Novelist, Kenneth Grahame. This story, set in England in the 1800's, is about four animals, Mole, Rat, Toad, and Badger, who all have emotions, traits, intentions and personalities like that of humans. It has inspired many authors since it was first published in 1908, and has a lot of wonderful lessons for us to learn. Come on a reading, painting, dining journey through this beloved tale with Mrs. Davis as the master storyteller!

What happens in Drone Camp stays in Drone Camp… Students will learn to build and fly drones. Each day they will go through an obstacle course. They will fly their drones through hoops, under bridges, and learn to land successfully on different targets. At the end of the week, they will engineer their own drone to go through the master obstacle course. By the end of the week they will become masters in piloting and building drones.

This princess-themed dance and gymnastics camp is a special program designed for young girls. We will incorporate all things “princess” into four fun-filled mornings of singing, dancing, and gymnastics! Daily activities will include dance or gymnastics class, a craft, snacks and games. With the help of the royal staff, the princesses will learn basic dance, tumbling, and stage presence. Campers will express their creativity with enchanting crafts, as well. We will perfect our princess manners during our daily snack break. The last day of Princess Camp will conclude with a short presentation and an official princess crowning ceremony. Princesses will need to bring a snack and a water bottle daily. Please extend this invitation to all the royal princess friends in your kingdom and let's have a BALL!!!

We will explore favorite children's picture books and learn techniques used to create the beautiful and memorable illustrations we so enjoy. Students will be introduced to the world of video game design through Scratch jr. Throughout the week they will be taken through the step of game development by learning how to code and design classic games such as frogger. Campers will learn the science behind everything SPY in a clever mix of chemistry, physics and biology. Their activities include dusting for fingerprints, using microscopes to analyze evidence, extracting DNA and writing in invisible ink. They will even build intruder alarms and learn to crack secret codes. This camp is a perfect fit for super-spies and scientists alike! Become a secret spy and take a fascinating journey into the world of forensic science. Don’t forget to bring the perfect disguise!!!

Calling all pirates, lost boys (and girls!) and believers in Neverland, come join Mrs. Clowers at musical theater camp with a production of Peter Pan. In musical theater camp you will join Mrs. Clowers to learn the basics of stage movement, choreography, set design, group singing, costume design, lighting and prop management while getting to practice and perform Peter Pan.  There are roles big and small to give campers of all levels of theater experience a chance to hone their skills. Bring lunch and a snack each day. Rising 2nd-9th graders are welcome.  Our two-week musical intensive will culminate in a show for family and friends. Join us on July 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Let’s-a-go Mario! Join Mario and friends for a whirlwind of adventures through Mushroom Kingdom at this super fun Super Mario Camp. Each day, campers will level up their creativity, coding, logic, and problem solving skills as they explore different lands, battle an army of Koopas and use their star power to conquer obstacles and challenges as they race to rescue the Princess. Campers are sure to have a super time at this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) based Super Mario Camp.

Students will become masters of MIT’s Scratch and create a game they will be able to be played at home. They will be introduced to computer science from computer scientists themselves. Students will learn the basics of game development by replicating games such as frogger, geometry dash, and fruit ninja. By the end of the week students will be fluent in Scratch, earn a degree in computer science, and have their very own video game.
