Summer Camp for Rising 2nd-5th Graders

Everything Is Awesome! Campers will learn to create their own awesome stop-motion animated movies with titles, credits, and sound effects. Campers may bring their own Lego pieces or other action figures to enhance their movies; Legos, tablets, and any other required supplies are provided by the camp. The movies will be sent out to each camper for in-home viewing following the camp.

Campers will focus on the fundamentals of tennis skills (forehand, backhand, and serving) and put those skills into practice. All Westminster Academy coaches are professing believers and are in training to be transformational coaches: who use their “coach-power” to nurture and transform players, who are “dedicated to self-understanding and empathy, viewing sports as a virtuous and virtue-giving discipline” (InSideOut Coaching). Daily devotions will focus on practicing and exercising faith, drawing from the many scriptures that make analogy to athletics.

No gloves ... no problem! Join us in a battle of wit and creativity each day. Lego enthusiasts will tap into their genius through guided free-build missions, interactive team-driven Lego competitions, and our ultimate Battle Royale. This week will focus on STEAM (science, tech, engineering, art, math) through computational thinking, design, creativity, and more. Grab a friend and let the battle begin!

Campers will hone their soccer skills in an encouraging environment. Focus will be on the basics of dribbling, passing, and defense, with plenty of scrimmage time to simulate game play. In Annie, Jr. Camp, we will learn the basics of stage movement, choreography, and group singing with the classic tale of an orphan who finds where she truly belongs. There are roles big and small to give campers of all level of theater experience a chance to hone their skills. Campers will also work on creating set pieces and props. Bring a lunch each day. Rising 2nd-9th graders welcome.

Our two-week musical intensive will culminate in a show for family and friends. Join us on July 2 at 2:00 p.m.

Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!! Battebots camps will allow students the opportunity to design, build, program, and control their own battlebot and compete in head-to-head competitions. Students will work with multiple types of bots for their competitions and challenges each day of camp. Engineers will pound, smash, flip, rip, and destroy their opponents’ bot. Bring your game face … winner takes all!

A crime wave has hit Westminster Academy and it is up to the sleuths of CSI: Westminster to uncover whodunit! Each day of CSI Camp, students are faced with a challenge that must be solved using a variety of scientific inquiries, like fingerprinting, ink-identification, and so much more. Logic skills will also be front and center as students reason through the evidence to solve these mysteries. Our scriptural devotions will include a meditation on Psalm 139 and the God from whom no things are hidden, not even the secrets of our hearts.

Dash is a robot that will respond to voice commands, navigate objects, dance, and sing. Dash is easily programmed wtih a tablet that we provide. Working in teams of two, campers will give Dash new behaviors and meet challenges by using drag-and-drop coding. This robot is fun and gives campers the foundations they need to become great programmers!

5th graders will join 6th-8th graders for this camp.

Campers will strengthen the fundamentals of volleyball (bumping, setting, spiking, and serving) and put it into practice with scrimmages. Emphasis will be put on playing as a team and group communication.

Join us for a week of hands-on clay fun! Alongside learning the basics of sculpture, campers will be working on several projects to take home at the end of week. Devotions for the week will center on the imagery in Scripture of God as the Potter and his children as the clay, and what that means for us in our daily lives.

Come join us as we re-create Anakin’s workshop! Campers will tinker away and use robotic LEGOS to build fantastic Star Wars creations. Soar through the galaxy with us as we build super spaceships and robots based on the Star Wars movies. Students will grow their knowledge of space, robotics, and coding.

5th-8th graders welcome.

Campers will focus on the fundamentals of basketball skills (dribbling, passing, and shooting) and put those skills into practice by learning a variety of plays. Scrimmages during the week will give opportunity for the teams to work together. Memphis is full of beauty, history, and creativity! We will use our city as inspiration in a wide variety of projects in this art camp. Young artists will explore various media while celebrating everything from the Memphis Grizzlies and Gibson's Donuts, to the Mississippi River and the Blues. We will look at the work of local artists and how Memphis influences their art. We hope to take the campers out to sketch and experience Memphis sites throughout the week; this will depend on travel restrictions due to the pandemic, so more information will be available closer to camp week.
