Summer Camp for Rising JK-1st Graders

Led by WA Grammar School Art Teacher, Mrs. Lindsey Ozier

Memphis is full of beauty, history, and creativity! We will use our city as inspiration in a wide variety of projects in this art camp. Young artists will explore various media while celebrating everything from the Memphis Grizzlies and Gibson's Donuts, to the Mississippi River and the Blues. We will also look at the work of several local artists and how Memphis influences their art.

Beginning paleontologists learn about dinosaurs and the techniques used in extracting fossils in this hands-on class. Go on your own fossil dig, analyze and assemble skeleton pieces, produce a fossil reconstruction, create a mural, use iPads to learn more about dinosaurs ... and take home lots of cool dinosaur daily projects! Be sure to pack a daily, healthy snack for the recess break.

Join us for a week of hands-on clay fun! Alongside learning the basics of sculpture, campers will be working on several projects to take home at the end of the week. They will learn about the changes clay undergoes as it dries and fires, as well as learning about our WA kiln. Devotions for the week will center on the imagery in Scripture of God as the Potter and his children as the clay, and what that means for us in our daily lives.

3, 2, 1 ... Blast Off!!! Young astronauts will have a blast in our out of this world summer camp. Campers will build and explore life in outer space with Legos, K'Nex, magnets, and other hands-on tools. Imaginations will soar as we explore the solar system together. Each day your little space engineer will create one-of-a-kind art projects, explore planets with the iPads, and make intergalactic music. Don't let gravity hold you down! Be sure to pack a daily, healthy snack for the recess break.

Led by WA Physical Education Teacher and Coach, Mrs. Stephanie Chester

The Sports Conditioning and Movement Program builds physical fitness and sports skills for rising JK-1st graders with games and fun! Join Coach Chester for days full of camp classics that develop the social-emotional skills of cooperative play and teambuilding, and physical skills like hand-eye coordination and ball handling, in the bigger spiritual picture of following Christ's example of being a servant of all. Games and activities will generally be non-competitive as campers learn to work together to solve problems or accomplish missions. Be sure to send a daily, healthy snack for the recess break.

2 sports ... 1 awesome week! Little Dribblers will have a blast experiencing the fun of both basketball and soccer in a fun and nurturing environment. Our program works with the basics of soccer and basketball, including hand-eye coordination, ball handling, footwork, dribbling, shooting, passing, and scoring a goal. We also include songs, drills, and games to incorporate numeracy and language skills each day. Most important, we keep it fun and exciting for the kids while promoting self-esteem, sports etiquette, and the benefits of exercise.
